Everything you need to know about art schools, art colleges, and art institutes

Who should attend an art institute?A better question might be "who shouldn't attend art school." Art school, like any institution of learning, is what you make of it. If you lack motivation, are prone to procrastination, terribly unorganized, or simply lacking in the basic artistic skills, art school is probably not for you. Let's face it, art schools are expensive. If you aren't prepared to apply yourself one-hundred percent, or if you don't have a basic level of art training upon which to build, your time (and money) might go to waste.A Structured EnvironmentArt school provides a structured, educational environment which can be a good motivator for some artists who lack a certain amount of initial motivation.Learn from Experienced ArtistsArt school gives you the chance to hone your skills under the tutelage of an experienced art instructor. While learning your skill as an artist is a personal endeavor, many pitfalls can be avoided by studying under an experienced teacher.A Sense of CommunityArt schools are excellent for community interaction and networking opportunities. You can learn a great deal in a short amount of time by interacting with other artists. The friends you make in school can become great doorways of opportunity in the future.
